SPECTRUM TOUR of JAPAN 2008

TOKYO, JAPAN “STB139”                        11/15/08
The first night at Sweet Basil 139 went off without any major problems, thank goodness. I am still trying to get a handle on my “in-ear” monitor system as it is a rental with a spotty history. Sometimes it works and sometimes not…….. Terry Bozzio dropped by last night along with Tommy Campbell, who makes Tokyo home. I hear “The Who” were playing in the larger club down the road but we were too busy to go and check them out. I think they sold the place out but one would think that this would come easy them at more than 20000 capacity.  Needlesstosay, they had no time for us either. 80)
I got a replacement set of hi hats that worked and it made my performance approach so much lighter and accessible. I am still dealing with this new hi hat stand but I haven’t lost faith yet. The bass drum pedals are growing on me. I becoming used to the resistance of the springs every time I play them. I have requested different beaters to see how the pedals react in this regard. As soon as I have that information I will pass it on. It would be great to receive the snare drum stand but, so far on luck.
The performance had it’s high’s a lows as I continue to try to control the jet lag problem. I am afraid that I will leave Japan without my body arriving here. This definitely affects my playing and makes me a bit grouchy when I think about it. Anyway, tonight is a “new day”. So let’s see where we go from here.
